Welcome
Help us help the homeless cats/kittens in Brevard
We are the original T-N-R (trap-neuter-return) organization in Brevard County, FL. We began our spay/neuter mission in 1998.
We are the original T-N-R (trap-neuter-return) organization in Brevard County, FL. We began our spay/neuter mission in 1998.
Space Coast Feline Network started TNR at Cape Kennedy in 1998. NASA gave SCFN a building to hold trapped cats/kittens in until they could be spayed/neutered and/or adopted/relocated. Eventually that building was needed by NASA & they gave SCFN a grant to build our own feral cat shelter (we are NOT accepting new cats). The next big TNR project SCFN tackled was the Port & Jetty Park, where close to 200 cats were TNR'd, with friendlies put up for adoption. To this day, we still have a managed group of volunteers who care for very few cats left in Jetty Park.
We have always had a helpline to answer questions about homeless cats & colonies. From 1998 till February 2021, we held monthly, then bi-monthly all volunteer, low/no-cost spay/neuter clinics for cats/kittens. The Covid pandemic slowed our progress until October 2023, when we partnered with the SPCA Adoption Shelter in Titusville to
hold 2 clinics & sterilized 96 cats/kittens.
We are currently looking for alternative locations to hold our bi-monthly spay/neuter clinics where we usually spay/neuter 50-60 community cats, pet cats & fosters. In the meantime, we are scheduling 6-8 cats at Brevard Spay/Neuter Clinic in Palm Bay every Monday & 4 at Brevard Humane Society in Cocoa every Thursday. Caregivers can still take 2 per day to BCSO Animal Services daily for free TNR (more details below).
Since 1998, we have spayed/neutered more than 20,000 cats/kittens.
The clinics we recommend will sterilize a kitten that weighs minimum 2 pounds. We suggest they be closer to 2-1/2 pounds due to side effects of FVRCP vaccines.
As of May 1, 2025, the free spay/neuter of cats/kittens at Brevard Spay/Neuter Clinic (Palm Bay) & Brevard Humane Society (Cocoa) came to an end due to economic uncertainties. Several Brevard non-profits will be looking at alternative funding sources so help can again be offered. If you are in dire need of assistance, please call our helpline 321-631-7729 or email fixaferal.scfn@gmail.com.
